Colin Matthews BAA CEO talk at the 'Movers & Shakers' Breakfast

At a recent 'Movers & Shakers' Breakfast, Colin Matthews BAA CEO addressed property and construction industry members to discuss "Modernising Heathrow and why it matters" as the government have now approved the third runway and new terminal.

Rather than just talking about Modernising Heathrow (which he did) the talk seems to be a hard sell for the third runway and new terminal.

Oneplanetoneday: 'Providing greener choice' Kevin McCloud, Grand Designs

Kevin McCloud chairs this discussion on Zero carbon and One Planet Living in retrofit and existing communities, making it relevant to the public, communicating benefits.

Moving away from a focus mainly on new communities to include existing ones, how can we provide products and services which enable people to lead high quality lives within a sustainable ecological footprint?
How we communicate the benefits of zero carbon homes?
How can we build successful businesses offering greener choices?
What is the role of the public sector in this process?

West 8: Adriaan Geuze, Dutch Architecture and Humour

West 8: Adriaan Geuze

This is a funny talk (funny ha ha) as West 8 founder and Principle Architect talks about Dutch architecture and 'Fighting the Sea'. One of the best talks from the RIBA 'International Dialogues: Architecture and Climate Change' talks 2008 season.

Frank Gehry and London architecture talks

Circa 2007 Frank Gehry and Sydney Pollack did a conversation/talk presenation at the Royal Institute of British Architects to co-incide with the film 'Sketches of Frank Gehry'.

An intersting talk by one of the world's best know architects (he was on the Simpsons!).

This event was held as a part of Architecture week (which has now been scrapped apparently due to budget cuts and the London Olympics) London Festival of Architecture might still be on this year though (not sure) but for architecture events in London New London Architecture http://www.newlondonarchitecture.org/talks.php is a great place to start

Ken Yeang: pioneer of low energy buildings

Ken Yeang is the world’s leading architect in ecological design and passive low energy design and his ‘bioclimatic’ towers have had an impact around the world, fusing high-tech and organic principles.

Ken is orginally from Malaysia but now works for Llewelyn Davies Yeang in London and was touted by The Guardian newspaper '50 people who could save the planet' (January 2005).

His thinking infuses peer group discussions on building form and disposition of the public realm through the objectives of sustainability.

Dr. Yeang was an early pioneer of low energy buildings and an ecological approach to sustainable design- developed through environmental integration, by enhancing biodiversity and working to emulate the systems of nature (Bioclimatic).
